Ronald Reagan and the Iran Hostage Crisis:

Picture
Fortunately for incoming president Ronald Reagan, the Iran hostages were released on January 20th, 1980. This occurred only minutes after he was inagurated into office. (PBS) Due to Carter's inadequate response to the Iran Hostage Crisis and lack of popular support, Reagan had won the election of 1980 in a landslide victory. Reagan's new outlook and goals for the US "inspried Americans to dream again." (Garamone)

Although Reagan did not have much of a crisis left on his hand by the time he was officially in office, the goals that he accomplished after the crisis were very successful and progressive for the United States. These achievements include taking part in Middle Eastern Peace, calling on Mikhail to tear down the Berlin Wall, and negotiating the Long-range Nuclear Forces treaty between the US and Soviet Union.
